About Strait

Strait is an independent digital news service. We publish around the clock across eleven sections: world, politics, business, technology, AI, health, science, sport, culture, the UAE and India.

We are not a wire service and we do not break every story ourselves. Our desks monitor the reporting of leading newsrooms and primary sources, verify what can be verified, and write clear, sourced accounts for readers who want the facts without the noise. Every report ends with the sources it was built from.

Editorial standards

We attribute every claim. Direct quotations appear only as they were published by the outlet that obtained them, and that outlet is named. We do not publish anonymous allegations, and we do not speculate about motives. Where facts are disputed, we say so and say by whom.

We separate news from opinion. Strait does not publish editorials or endorse candidates.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say what changed. Corrected articles carry an updated timestamp and a note at the foot of the piece. To report an error, write to corrections@strait.news.
